I know we all miss the Shopsmith sawdust sessions that Nick and Drew use to do and wish Shopsmith would bring them back. But till then would it not be great if we would just do them ourself? Look how many videos we could have if everyone (myself included) would just make one video and post on YouTube.
They could be very short basic videos like how to adjust the fence or set the speed control.
If I could just force myself to take the time to figure out how to do it.

It's a great idea. It will also help to continue Shopsmith's Legacy and serve as some for of advertisement by showing the Mark V (or other SS products) to more people. Now, the legal part I don't know.....like if somebody cuts a finger by trying so I guess a well made disclaimer should go first.

It might also force us to use the SS's we have and not just clean and fix them up. LOL I also wonder about the legal issues if there are any since we will be focusing on just the SS product. You never can tell we might discover the next Norm

What a great idea. I have done this on youtube already and have had no bad situations yet. I showed how I made a candle stick holder and a shop tour. It was real fun to do but I have not posted much on there since I lost my job and I only have dialup from home. The videos take too long to upload from home I used to do it from my work with a dedicated internet connection. I just used the standard movie maker software that came with windows XP for editing and titles and it work fine. You can get fancier if you like. One important thing to remember is that you are not able to download your video so make sure you keep a copy of it after to upload it to youtube or you will be like me and not have your own copy and have to go to youtube to watch it again. There used to be a way to copy the youtube videos but I got told by Nick that it was wrong and stopped doing it.

posting videos is a good idea. I would like to make some featuring the jigs I've made so far. Only my old camcorder isn't compatible with win7. I need to work some fix for that.
I found a 3 part video featuring the basic SS functions. I get the impression he is a hobbyist rather than a representative. I inserted the 3 links below:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAJhgHx_3ew&feature=related

So more like this, from forum members, would be fun.

From what I understand from others is that this _MUST_ be done as an individual project. Don't use the Shopsmith logo or anything that might make people think it is a Shopsmith-sponsored production.

Despite posts to the contrary on these forums, there is no problem with the Shopsmith logos that are on your machines being visible as long as they are incidental to the video -- i.e. they are just a part of the machine. The same with the name Shopsmith and the various other products they make.

Refrain from any statements that could be misinterpreted as you speaking for Shopsmith.

Even though I'm always right and my advice is always the best, I feel the need to state that I'm not a lawyer. Your payment of ZERO dollars and ZERO cents for this advice is much appreciated and accurately reflects the value of said advice.

I almost have as much money tied up in photo and video equipment as I do tools. I have done a lot of video editing, an it can be as rewarding as woodworking. My wife and I have a baby due in a little over a week, so I will not have much time for the SS or making video's in the next several months, otherwise i may participate.

Enjoy the little one, love your wife and try to get enough sleep! Best Wishes!
