can someone explain the systerm used by SS for their Mark Vs.

I just realize that a Mark 7 is older than Mark V. Why did they go backwords.

and why is there a sticky on almost all the post that refered to the new
shopsmith power pro--when it's from 2006 and I guess it's not out yet?

just curious I guess
TIA

farley, this (http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/toolhistory.htm)doesn't explain the numbering system but it does show the chronology of the various models.

Who is 'They'? The Mark 5 and Mark VII 'they' is different from the Mark V 'they'.

I think is was quite clever of SS Inc. to identify their produce of the Mark 5 model as a Mark V. Unfortunately they act as if a Mark 5 never existed, which leads to much confusion.

A sticky is just that(it sticks to the top regardless of when it may be read). 2006???? Ya sure about that????

Ok thanks for questioning me.

Just learning to read the site.
I was wrong on the date of the power pro sticky--it was from Feb. 2010.
date joined by poster was 2006.

Thanks to Dusty's link I think I see why the Mark V and Mark VII are called by those names. I thought it was an order of age thing, but the Mark V is a 5-1 tool and the Mark VII is a 7-1 tool.

Thanks guys.

This model is not supported by the cuttent Shopsmith company.
You can download a copy of the manual here. (http://www.songofthegreatlakes.com/ss10ermanual.htm)
