This is exactly the reason manufactures are producing products overseas. Most people don't care if its made in the USA like Shopsmith. It's all about $$$$ For this reason I would not be upset if SS started to manufacture overseas to lower the cost of tools. Hate to see it, but......
Thats why Shopsmith would not win a fight in the Delta or JET comparison. Cheap labor vs American wages. They can't win.
Kinda think it's funny all the talk about Shopsmith not knowing how to run a business. They have survived how long now making a woodworking tool here in the USA? I'd say they KNOW HOW IT"S DONE.
Shopsmiths only problem is they make the tools too good. Last for a lifetime. How many tools do you see for sale (CL, or the bay) from the 50's like Shopsmith.
They have certainly demonstrated that capability in the past but can they do it now. I understand that they have had a big reduction in work force along with a major change in manufacturing facilities.
Do they still have the ability to do what they did in the past? Who now manages the operation? Are all the same top level people still on board?
