I am a little upset with Shopsmith. I have been a pretty loyal supporter buying from Shopsmith even when I could have turned to eBay or others for parts or supplies first to save a little money if what I needed was out there. But like many here I want to keep Shopsmith alive if that is possible. But it is hard to support a company that advertize a product on sale gets your money and then tells you they have know idea when the product you ordered the week before will be available. It is on back order and they have no date when it will be in. Shopsmith has a small loyal costumer base as it is. I do not understand why they would offer a product on a 20% off sale and have no idea when they would be able to service those orders. It is just bad business. I would have ordered even if they had said there would be 30 day delivery time. I will not be buying any thing else from them if they can not give me a date. And I will probably start looking for other options also.

What was it you ordered? Not to make any excuses but I do know that many firms Shopsmith used were also involved in other manufacturing (autos) which dried up during this recession.

I can understand your frustration but one part of your story seems odd to me. Every time Shopsmith backorders anything for me they haven't charged my credit card until they actually ship it.

You said SS had your money. How? Did you pay in cash? or with a check? I believe the law says if they are going to keep your money they have to offer the choice of waiting until the product becomes available or refund you. Like I said in SS case and using credit card they simply don't charge your account until the product is avail. In fact If the wait is longer than a few weeks they have always called me right before they do ship it and ask if I still want it. Then and only then is my credit card processed for the product.

I ordered the ceramic sanding disk and pads. Ed you may be right. I am not sure that they have charged my account and I should have checked that before I said they had my money. And that is not fair to them.
In my way of thinking that does not change the fact that they are soliciting sales with no knowledge of when they can fill the order. I am sure not every one is on the fixed in come I am but when I order something I have to plan that that money is gone. I can’t print it like our government. I still think it is wrong to do people that way.

I feel your pain cv3. I ordered the fence stop, 555808, in mid March and still have not received it. Shopsmith has not charged my credit card yet. But hey, the stop is on sale again. Maybe I should order another one:D.

I think we have almost all gone through this. I have been waiting for many months (a year may be) for dust covers. Last time we spoke they were looking for a manufacturer so, the prices of the offer may never happen.
It seems that the emails are generated automatically since this out of stock issue after the offer comes is common.

They never take the money until their ship, just a lot of our patience.

I suppose we all have days when one supplier or another gets the hackles up. Shopsmith always seems to be able to offer options when I need something in a rush. At times the best option seems to be canceling the order and trying another source. Yet each time I do that I seem to become even more frustrated. It seems the optional source has a tougher time delivering than shopsmith. Good luck and keep smiling everyday. Jim
