Bedroom TV stand or mount advice?

Hi,

I feel like doing something different for the master bedroom. It probably will include a bigger TV than my old 19". Anyway, here's what we have today:
- The "Nook" in the room, presently used for a bookshelf/TV stand, is pretty darn far from the bed.
- I am very nearsighted, always fumbling for my glasses near the bed.
- Current line-of-sight from sleepy-heads to TV just barely clears the footpiece of the sleigh-bed.

So it would seem I should get a wall-mount for a TV at a high altitude. But it just strikes me as so sterile.

Any brainstorms from you craftsmen?

1) Go ahead and mount it to the wall and build a smart looking cabinet around it with doors that open when you want to view.

2) Build a floor cabinet with the TV hidden, and use a remote control to raise it to viewing height when you want to.

Build it into the foot-board for the bed? They make lift mechanisms just for that.

An update after just over 1 year.... yesterday. Hey, if nothing else, I got some laughs out of the family. Some of them were humming the 'Space Oddysey" theme music. Well.... it's a rough mockup. I swear I measured things correctly and had a good sketchup confirmation that this size would work. It just looks too big! Not to worry, I'll get there someday.

You're only committed to the MINIMUM size of the top. A large rectangular top, or, you could make a Butler tray table top, a round top, or round on only three sides with a leaf on one side, making a hall table, or.........on to infinity!!!
