Wow, I didn't know a home computer could be so fast until I received the one I am now using.

I now have an AMD Athlon 64 FX-62 Dual Core Processors (I don't know what that all means but that's what the System Properties window says).

It operates at 2.81GHz and has 3.25 GB of RAM. I no longer have a virtual memory shortage. The Hard Drive is large enough to hold all my Shopsmith folders too - 419GB (400GB of Free Space right now).

I now have all that speed and power and I still can't make the speakers or the printer work.

I got this from a close friend who is a gamer and was dissatisfied with the quality of the video on his huge flat screens. I am pleased as punch and I only have a pair of ViewSonic A90f+ monitors (must be about 22")..

Wow Dusty,
That sounds like a real nice computer. I still have one like your old one. Keep having the virtual memory thing happening also. I have to keep removing files from my desktop to keep it going. But with the dial up internet connection a faster computer for me would not help me. Have fun this the new computer and it is a good gloat you have partner.

Maybe you'll have to get into gaming. Maybe a virtual SS game. It's a shame to have a Corvette to run Edsel applications.

I heard about the desk top file problem a few years ago. Since then, I have always downloaded and saved them to my desk top for immediate usage and then dragged them into an appropriate folder in My Documents (like Woodworking Tips).

Afterward I right click on the file, select "send to" and select "send to desk top as a short cut". That way you have immediate access to your file from your desk top while having only 3k or 4k there. You can also send shortcuts for folders doing the same procedure.

Also, keep the Recycle Bin empty.
