Fellas, I've been remiss. I've not been on the forum in quite a while. I've lurked a bit, but my summer has been extremely busy. Quite a few of you have pinged me asking for copies of the Hands On! under the MK V cabinet plans. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your perspective), I'm writing this on my brand spankin' new laptop. My house got nailed by lightning and my previous laptop, with all of my woodworking files, furniture designs, shop records, etc. got whacked. I've got to take it in and see if the computer gurus can recover the hard drive. So, for those of you that haven't done so (and there are probably many), I would STRONGLY recommend you invest in a surge protector!! :D For a measly $20 or so bucks, I wouldn't be dealing with this right now.
I've also spent my late spring/into summer working my tail off in the shop, almost to the point where it's become a chore vice a pleasure. I completed a Civil War reproduction campaign chest as a going away present for a Marine Lieutenant Colonel who was transferring. Made it out of book matched walnut with sycamore trim. I'd love to show it to you as it came out beautiful, but, yep, photos are on the other laptop. I'm currently working on two cherry and walnut nightstands, nine plaques (walnut) and one lapdesk (cherry and mahogany). The deadlines are kicking my tail! The nightstands have to be delivered by August 16, the lapdesk by August 8, and the plaques by August 24. AND... I had surgery on my feet yesterday to remove some bonespurs so now I can't walk nor stand for very long! So, needless to say, once I can move around again, I'll be pulling some late nights in the shop to meet the deadlines. I haven't missed one yet, I'm not about to start! Then I think I'll take a couple of weeks off from the shop. Yeah, I know, not gonna happen  ...
