What Shopsmith provides is
http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/itemfind.htm?item=555526
I use a piece of 1/2" MDF with a home made miter track. I made mine
9" wide X 32" long.
What you did is pretty much what Shopsmith describes in the docs. I was not talking about the one they sell that you referenced above.

This sled looked very promising, but it is no longer available on Ebay and "Appalachia Tools" does not Google. Does anyone know if this sled is still available and, if so, where you can get it?

I never like to post email addresses on public websites. It only invites spammers to start sending you things. I will send you private message with an email address for Rick Woodburn, they guy who makes them.

Incidentally plans to build the crosscut/panel/miter sled that I was talking about to start this thread is now in the Shopnotes special Tools and Jigs magazine/book that is in the bookstores and news stands now.
Also included in the book/magazine is plans for a thickness sander that could easily be fitted to a Shopsmith, a really nice panel saw and super ideas for jigs and fixtures for most of the main tools in the shop.
An additional feature when you buy the book/magazine they give you a password to view much of the content online.
