Does anyone remember the plans in the old shopsmith mag. that had the plans in it for the heavy duty workbench. Built out of 4x4 with mortice and tendon joints on the legs and spreaders?? Had a double layer of particle board for the top.

I don't think I am dreaming.

Built one and sold it with my buisness and would like to build another one.

Just hate to see an unanswered question go for a couple of days in this Forum. Especially from a guy's first post. Sorry, I didn't find a workbench plan for 4x4s -but here's one using 2x4s. http://www.shopsmithhandson.com/archives/july_aug_03/index.htm

Seems you have a few choices here. You can wait for one of the old timers to hunt up that old article from their collection of Hands-On magazines. They may be able to come through for you.

You can use the idea of the 2x4 plan (above) and change it to 4x4s with mortise and tenon joints.

There have been several plans for workbenches in various woodworking magazines. If you wish, I'll look up some of them and refer the magazine issues to you. You can probably obtain back copies from the publisher(s).

Good Luck to you!

P.S. How about one of these? http://plansnow.com/workbenchplans.html

Had my Shopsmith for about 25 years and still use it all the time.
Have been reading the form a long time but just now jumped in.
